Sort of a bitter sweetish smell, like rotting citrus. I had a bad heater core too so that may be it. I replaced the front carpet and mats, which helped a lot, but there's still a whiff when you first get in. Fortunately it goes away pretty quick once you start driving. I tried baking soda, which helped a little but not enough. I've sort of given up on it -- I leave the windows open a crack when I remember, but otherwise just try to forget about it. My wife's 9-5 reeks, I think because the a/c drains clogged and spilled a lot of water on the floor. Only my old 1990 9K smells sweet.
