I removed the cylinder head and sent it to Swedish Dynamics, but this adds weeks to your project. While everything was apart, I had a local auto electrical place put a new bearing in the alternator. My parts list for this project would include both the balance shaft and timing chains, their tensioners, and the sprockets for both on the crankshaft. My timing shaft camshaft sprockets were also worn, so I replaced those, so I guess if the engine has over 100K on it, I'd replace those sprockets, too. The oil pan is a major pain to remove, but I imagine if you don't remove the cyl head, it will be hard to remove the timing cover without removing the oil pan. I used Kappy's writeup, too, and it was very helpful. I also took copious notes as I removed things, with diagrams of what goes where, and I labeled everything I removed with tape and a Sharpie. Re-installation was a snap with everything labeled. I wish I had the self discipline to do that all the time, but I knew that with a big and prolonged job, memory wouldn't serve sufficiently. Good luck.
