LOL, do you mean "surprise, surprise" as in "of course its TCS - so it's gonna suck." ???
I have 93 aero 5 sp w/ tcs. Still going strong, the car has 267K miles and about 200K, or 9 hard driving, trying to kill the car years (no you cant buy it from me).
IMO the system is not 1/2 bad (oh yes - i've tested it) plus i have the cutoff switch when it comes on as its supposed to. Misinformed saab community with overblown irrational concerns and lack of knowledge - especially on these boards - tends to degrade the opinion of a 1st year model car. I personally never really had ANY issue until recently when the tcs light came on - rough starts/idle /limp home mode but it was an easy fix - I installed new tcs solenoid thingy which is on the firewall /bulkehaed. easy to spot - cheap - etc. Not bad after 267K miles. You'll need tech2 to test for sure/
some indieshops will unfortunately try to play on your fear, dramatize and overcharge on this TCS fix + try to explain how stupid the system is blah blah blah. some indies should not be in buinsess/ AIMHO. be aware. get more than one opinion. the dealer is a good start. thesaabsite.com has really good faq's based on years of experience and tom townsends' dedication to the saab community as well as keeping Saabs running 300K + miles!
