I've bought the transmission already. It's a new unit. I decided it's unlikely the existing one will last as long as I want the car and to get one in advance of at a good price. I also see winter in New England coming on, and I anticipate complete transmission failure around February 8th at 4 degrees F.

I've started having trouble getting reverse and it shifting too early into second, but when my wife drives the car she also has trouble with it slipping from first and thumping into second leaving stop lights, so there is probably more than just governer seals, I must know how to drive it to avoid that problem. The C' band is adusted per the instructions, I changed springs a couple of years ago, KDW wire and adjustment last year. You can adjust it pretty well if you take notes and make changes iteratively. The fluid gets changed often. It is at 183K.
