I have read most of the tranny problems posted in the archive, as well as the Townsend site, and I can't seem to find one similar to mine. Unless, of course, what I am experiencing is considered "hard shifting". Problem surfaced this week.

I have only noticed the problem while driving spiritedly (as in trying to pass another car). While in 3rd (whether I allowed the tranny to downshift automatically or if I manually moved the selector to "3"), the car feels like it's bucking or slipping in gear. I'm sure it's not fuel cutoff as it's not that violent and boost is not at a suicide level. It did it in 4th this morning as I pushed the gas pedal down. It does not do it in 1st or 2nd. Again, I do not notice this situation when driving the car conservatively. Everything shifts and drives fine during those times.

I am assuming this to be tranny-related, though it only happens when trying to drive the car hard (also, doesn't do it every time while driving in this manner which means it could be the start of a problem or it's not the tranny). Could it be signs of a dying DI? Wouldn't I have the problem at all times then? Could it be fuel starvation? Fuel filter has approx. 20K miles on it, and I always use premium.

What can I do if it is the tranny? Does performing the band adjustment help this? Is this the same as the C-band adjustment? Accumulator springs? I've seen all of the ideas posted about what to do, but the initial problem was usually something else other than mine. I have flushed and re-filled the ATF at 12K mile intervals. Governor seals were replaced a few months ago.

Tranny has 42K on it (was replaced at 52K under warranty).
