Based on using and selling AMSOIL synthetic oil for over 25 years, and changing a lot of high mileage Saabs to it:
I have never had a problem of any kind. In the over 25 years, I can think of about 3 cars which had leaks with AMSOIL--and they had leaks before AMSOIL.
No synthetic oil on the market will cause seals or gaskets to leak. If there is a bad seal or gasket, held together by gunk or sludge, the synthetic (or another brand of non-synthetic) can clean up the bad stuff and you'll find the pre-existing leak.
Far as viscosity--use the same in synthetic that you do in non-synthetic.
Best filter: AMSOIL new EAO, next best AMSOIL SDF, then Mobil 1.
