Yeah that 89-90 B202 tensioner is a sorry excuse of design.
Even when you mount a brand new assembly on the car, the pulley is tilted slightly due to the offset of forces onto the pulley.
I have heard people finding 88 and older 9000 and scavenge the whole tensioner assembly from them and installing it in the 89-90 model turning it into an old fashioned manual tensioner that pretty much never fail.
The bolt holes are the same.
