late MY 9000 vs. early MY 9-5 Wagon: DIY? Posted by iveand [Email] (#3155) [Profile/Gallery] (more from iveand) on Fri, 10 Feb 2006 18:43:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Debating between late 9000's and early 9-5 wagons (probably not the 1999), but most likely a 2000.
In both cases I would like (need?) a manual. Would like it to be sub 100K. Looking to spend $9K or less (maybe up to $10K for a good 9-5).
I have enjoyed NG900 DIY work, and would like to hear about the ability to work on both of these models. Seems as if 9000s have more quirky electrical issues. Of course both could have possible sludge / pressure issues if oil choice / interval have not been up to snuff. I want a good engine.
How hard is it to work on a 9-5 as compared to the 9000? Reliability? General failure of peripherial parts (elecric seats fail, heater core / AC issues, etc.). Any marked differences or is it just a factor of age / wear?
Thanks for any input.
