My parents had a '92 9000S with the stock 15" wheels (My brother drives it now.) After the first set of tires wore out, my dad put P205/60R15 tires on thestock wheels. After 150K, and about four sets of tires, not a single tire-related problem.

It's now over 210K and running strong.

I agree with Noel that tire selection is as (0r more) important than size.

For what the car did (commute), we liked the Dunlop D60/A2 and now, the BFG Traction T/A. Nothing special, but good tires. I don't know if the Dunlop is still made.
