About 18 months ago I replaced a dead BPC in my 98 5-speed. It seemed to work at first but the boost would on occasionally go to fuel cut off. It might have gone to cut off more often but I am a conservative driver and only push it when I feel I have to which makes cut off all the more disconcerting. Within a few months the car behaved pretty much as you describe even though the BPC tested OK. Finally, I gave in and bought another. Since then (knock on wood) the car is behaving normally. The boost goes into the red and where it stops depends upon the grade of fuel and no fuel cut off yet. I guess you just have to keep buying BPC valves until you get one that works well. Does anyone know if there are more than one manufacturer of them?
