I second Ari's suggestion that the radiator may be clogged. I will disagree slightly that the problem will show up first at idle rather than at highway speeds. My 93 CSE tended to run very, very warm at speed, but a bit cooler (but still too warm) when going slow. The A/C made matters worse at all speeds. Setting the interior heat level to "high" helped lower engine temperature, which strongly suggested that the radiator need help (constricted flow).
Both the A/C and running at speed increase the amount of heat to be dissipated. If the radiator is constricted, the coolant temperature rises. I put a clear radiator from my transmission-dead, cool-running 92 9KT into my blue-smoke-at-startup, hot-running 93 CSE. Now the 93 runs cool at all speeds, including traffic jams, with A/C on max, and outside temperature miserably hot. (Still have blue smoke at start up, suspect valve guide seals.)
A new radiator can be gotten for less than $200. The only real challenge to the installation is getting the oil cooler separated from the radiator. I had to remove the oil pipes from their fittings near the oil filter and extracted the radiator & oil cooler together (I couldn't get at the two lower 8mm screws that attach the oil cooler to the radiator).
