I don't think it is the IGNITION that's the problem, rather as suggested already, it could be inside Ignition CYLINDER SWITCH. The cylinder now-a-days has so many features going on inside of it that eventually the electrical contacts fail. Turning on the headlight, for example, might be just enough draw to arc through the contact points once in a while. Until the corrosion gets worse.

I've replaced one key & cylinder and one cylinder "computer chip" in two non-Saab cars in recent years. That's after paying repairmen, who had no clue, to diagnose the problem. Now this is the first place I'll look when the problem like what you mention appears.
