I bypassed the amp because a car stereo guru friend of mine told me to. The oem stereo head did not put out very much power and the amp only bumps it up a little more. The Alpine head puts out more amp then the oem head and amp combined. He did tell me that in the future I might want to buy a pre-amp for the rear speakers and let the Alpine drive the fronts. Right now the Alpine is driving all of the speakers.
As for the bypass:
A set of wires come from the head down to the amp. Then a set of wires go out from the amp to the speakers. I connected the two set of wires (under the passenger seat) together. In the future I plan on rewiring from the head to the speakers using better wire but for now this works great.
I hope you can make heads or tails of this explanation, If not let me know and I will give you more help.
