Major services runs in 30K mile intervals.
At that service all the filters and fluids are replaced together with spark plugs, rotate and balance tires and a full inspection of the car and some more.
The price seems very reasonable for being a shop and it all depends on how you have serviced the car and want to keep up with the service.
Some people don't want to service their cars and are ok with changing out major components now and then when they fail due to lack of service.
A trained Saab mechanic can also check and determine the need of other wear and tear items that can be difficult to spot for an untrained eye.
It all comes down to how honest the mechanic is in his evaluation of what the car needs.
