Throttle Body buzzing; no start; 1993 CDE Posted by adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adam) on Tue, 5 Sep 2006 05:24:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1993 CDE with TCS. I changed out a passengers CV shaft, and in the process, needed to change a front motor mount, so before all was said and done, I ended up pulling the alternator, the entire CV with intermediate shaft and rear mount and left the power steering hanging. I was working from the top on occasion, and working with the wiring under the throttle body. After everything was reassembled, I put the battery back in, cranked and there is no fire. I drove the car into the garage, jacked it up, did the work and now nothing. After cranking for a few secs (long enough to have it normally start), there is a high-pitched buzzing noise from the throttle body that makes a BEEP, BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, BEEP, BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP sound that keeps repeating for maybe 10-15 seconds, then stops. It sounds like a motor or something inside the throttle body is searching for a "home" position and cannot find it for some reason.
A) Does anybody know what this throttle body high-pitched whirring means, and B) Is there any chance that it's related to wiring that I may have bumped while working under the intake manifold bumping the alternator and what not around? I did not notice a TCS light, and the gas pedal is easy to depress, so I don't think I'm in LHM. I tried giving gas when cranking too, and still no sputter. Thanks for your input.
