clutch master, variable & intermittent - very strange ! Posted by vtsnaab [Email] (#26) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vtsnaab) on Sun, 10 Sep 2006 01:20:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi Folks.
In my '91 9KT I have had clutch hydraulic trouble on and off
for some time now.
At one point both the master and slave were replaced with new
ones.
The master was a Scantech from Eeuroparts and the slave is an
expensive OEM one, all installed by my indie and pressure bled.
This all happened after the clutch just went flat one day and
I had it transported there on a flatbed to be fixed.
Later, the new clutch master started acting strange - it started
pausing part way after being depressed.
It quickly became a real nuisance to drive and a replacement was
shipped in advance by Eeuroparts.
The replacement was installed along with a pedal cluster in better
shape than mine which appeared to have a flat spot worn into it.
All has been well for a bunch of months now, nicely, boringly
normal clutch operation as I would like for it to be...then:
A few days ago the amount of actual clutching distance in the
pedal reduced sharply but not all the time - it was worst in the
cooler parts of the day when the car had been sitting, and hasn't
been consistent at all - the amount of distance where there is
actual, detectable clutch disengagement/re-engagement now varies
and sometimes it is only good for an inch or 1.5 inches of 'live'
pedal.
To make matters more confusing, it has just developed that same
kind of hesitation that it had with all the old parts....pausing
while down quite low and taking some time to return upward again !
My indie suggests that perhaps the fluid feed hose has a pinhole
in it and is admitting a small amount of air - but this to me seems
like it would create a full-time problem, and not be intermittent ?
Has anyone experienced anything like this ?
Please suggest any possible causes or fixes.
Also - does the feed hose have to come from Saab OEM, or is it a
size/type that can be gotten generically ?
Thanks for any info !
