As far as your 8 to 10 revolutions to start i have always thought my 9k takes longer to crank than any other car i've driven but i attribute that to a 20lb flywheel.

Now before my most recent headgasket my car would start up a little rough and smooth out but unlike yours, if i would go full throttle i would get bad mis fire. So check your coolant and oil. Have you been losing any coolant lately with no signs of it turning up anywhere? Next thing i would do is pull your plugs and see how they look. They will tell you if your running lean or rich. If your not losing any coolant the next thing i would suspect is either your DI cassette or that possibly you have a tired fuel pump that might be having trouble supplying pressure for the first few minutes or a backedup fuel filter.

So if you can.
1. Tell us how the coolant and oil are looking and if your 9k is using any of it up.
2. Check your plugs and make sure the gap is right, also note how they look, lean will be grayish and rich will be dark black. It would be a good idea to replace them with fresh NGK from a saab dealer. If white they may indicate coolant in the cylinders which means headgasket. Also look into the cylinders with a small flashlight when you pull the plugs, if they are wet coolant and head gasket suspect. Your car is in the 115k to 130k where our head gaskets usually go.
3. If all are good in the previous step borrow a good DI unit and see if that takes care of your rough idleing at start up. Also wouldn't hurt to get on ebay and pick up a good used spare and keep it in the trunk.
4. If nothing changes with a known good DI i would suspect something in the fuel system, most likely the pump. Usually they just stop working rather than not being able to sustain pressure.

Give us an update after you check those items abouve Richard DuBois.
