I've run into a problem like this once before and it required removing the tranny 3 times. There are 2!!!(possibly more) slaves for 9000's. one has a longer cyl by about an 1/8 inch. this could be your porblem. also i normally remove the spring between the slave and the t/o bearing because it really serves no purpose once everything it back together.
I hoppe someone can back me up on this, i have been known to talk out of my a$$ at times
