Your gonna have the usual issues for a Saab. Here's what i've encountered most on my car.

Simple everyday itmes.
1. Condenssor lines, rock came up and cracked it
2. Radiator lines, just a usual wear and tear
3. DI, keep one as a spare and the neccessary star driver to remove and change if a DI dies on you. Its real quick and easy to do.
4. Make sure you have the proper NGK plugs as the DI uses them to determine if theres any knock.
5. Exhaust. For a car that comes from a land of snow i wish they had put a better exhaust on it. The downpipe/cat is solid but everything else just seems to rust away.

Major itmes.
1. Heater core and Blower motor. Its a four hour job the first time through if you patient and don't break anything. Its usually the heater core thats the issue but the time and hassle of getting in there best to do both at the same time since its the same process to get either.
2. Head gasket. At about 115,000 to 130,000 on a gasket is when they usually go if there going to. Just keep an eye on it. If you have to do this make sure you send the head out to be checked and cleaned up as well as the thermostat.
3. Motor mounts, i'm currently in this situation as i know the dogbones (torque arm mount) are shot. The lower mounts usually go first leading to the rubber in the dog bones to go followed by the rubber tranny mount. You can get solid lower mounts if you prefer those instead of hydralic mounts and poly for the dog bones and tranny mount.

Mixed blessing.
The only thing here is the auto. I know the previous 9k auto's were a nightmare for reliability but i've got citren 97 9k cse auto and i beat the hell out of it and its given me no trouble. Just do regular fluid changes and be nice in first and you should be golden. Last year 9k (96-98) had the best automatics of the whole run.

Your getting one hell of car Paul and you'll love it. Very DIY friendly for most jobs.
