Master cylinders usually do no leak, but the rubbers deteriorate and let the fluid pass, and voila, no pressure to the slave. Get down on your knees, with a flash light, and look at the top of the clutch pedal and you will see the master cylimer. It used to be in the cowl but I think for your year it is under the dash by where the clutch pedal is attached. Check for fluid leaking. If so then it is obviously bad. If you do not see any fluid, but the resevoir is down, then check the hose from the master to the slave and make sure it is still attached and not leaking. If that is OK but the fluid is down then the slave is leaking and you can expect a large repair bill. If there is no evidence of leaks, most likely the master cylinder is bad and it can be replaced or rebuilt. Neither is very pricey, just a pain due to the location. If you take it to a garage they will most likely recommend doing the slave as well. But if it is the master , unless you want to help out your Visa or Master card account, there is no need to do the slave at this time. I have rebuilt a number of master cylinders and the slave outlasts them many times over. Hope this helps fix your baby. Alex
