What's a good "always on" wire to tap into behind dash? Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Wed, 28 Feb 2007 11:36:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just bought a Homelink (generic Mercedes/Chrysler unit) on ebay for my 9000. I'd like to mount it beneath the lower storage compartment (the big one) under the radio and cut a hole so the control pad sits inside the compartment. Or something like that...
Can anyone think of a good wire to tap into for power? I think I'd rather use an unswitched wire so that I could still use the unit if the car is off. I don't think the unit would draw power when not in use, right?
I was going to tap into the cigarette lighter power, but I already have my V1 running off that, and occasionally charge my cell through the lighter too. Don't wanna overload anything, and that's switched anyway.
Thanks for any ideas!
