The 9000s revv quite high compare to other cars

I know that you guys in the M/T version won't complain since the 5th gear helps. ...
But why in the A/T cars the crusing rev. was set so high? especially comparing to other cruising cars, taken the redline limit into consideration, and the fact that all turbo 9000s have enormous torque at lower rev?
I've got earlier (MY95 & MY98) 9000 FPTs, and it does 2.3-2.4K rev at 60MPH, 3.3-3.4K rev at 75MPH, and we've got redline at only 6Krev!
At the same speed (60 & 75MPH), my other car MB E320 4A/T, having 6.5Krev redline, is doing only 2.0K rev & 2.5K rev, or even a 2.8L Audi A6 C5 4 A/Twhich has redline at 6.7Krev, is revving only at 2.1K rev & 2.6K rev consecutively....
Why does saab set the final drive of 9000s so high? I'm always cruising at 75 or more when the road and the limit available. No question it is more comfortable in the E320 especially with the lower engine noise and revving vibration... That would be more contradict if take the torque curve of FPT engine in to consideration!
Are there anyway to reduce the 9000s crusing rev.? I'm thinking about changing the final drive in the trans. Are there any other model of 9000s ZF that has a lower final drive I could swap to my car?
Any comment always appreciate.
TIA,
Pat98
