Motor Mount or bad synchro???

I recently purchased a 1994 Aero with 110k. The transmission grinds when I shift into 4th gear at a moderately fast rate while the engine is producing modest boost. It does not grind if I shift at low RPMs or if I shift slowly. The shifter has a lot of movement when your accelerate and the upper motor mount is shot, so I suspect that one or both of the lower motor mounts are shot. The transmission mount looks fine.
Anyway, is the grinding due to the motor mounts or a bad synchro in the transmission?
Sincerely,
Dan
