The hose just plugs on, I think - but it seems less usual for it to become detached behind the gauge, the problems are more often at the Y-piece or firewall area, where there is more heat and the hose degrades. The same is true at the connection to the "hooter valve" (turbo bypass valve) as mentioned by Noel. The small hose gets brittle and breaks or leaks.
However, the problem certainly could be behind the dash. To test if the hose has detached from the gauge, you could take out the ACC control (this just levers out, and you can unplug it or just let it hang) and find the hose, which is black and appears at the back of the dash in the general area of the ACC and adio. I'm guessing here - haven't done this - but if it's detached it should just pull out from the direction of the gauge. If you get any sort of resistance, it's probably still attached and you can leave it be and look elsewhere for your problem.
If it has come off at the gauge you can take the top off the dash - search past posts for the way to do this or follow the link, below. You might need to remove the instrument cluster as well, to refit the hose, but I doubt it (guessing again). Remember to disconnect the battery first because there is a risk of shorting cables as you rummage around in there. Small hands will be an advantage!
If you have to put the hose back on to the gauge, or the Y-piece or any other connector for that matter, it will make sense to either replace the hose with a new one or, if the hose is in good condition, cut off the end bit which may have widened, cracked or softened (making sure it's still long enough), and put on a small cable tie for extra safety.
Finally, if you're replacing the difficult bit behind the dash, replace the easy bits in the engine compartment as well, because as already mentioned, they suffer more heat.
