Andy,
The sounds You're hearing could be indicative of the turbocharger rotating assembly (compressor wheel/turbine) contacting their respective housings which typically produces a change in turbocharger vocals.
This contact is due to wear at the turbocharger bearings or thrust assembly as this will lead to movement of the shaft and almost always leads to eventual oil seal problems (oil bypassing, smoke in exhaust, etc).
Remove the intake boot from the turbocharger and grab the compressor wheel shaft nut with your thumb and index finger. If you can feel much in up and down or in and out(axial) movement, the turbocharger will need replacemnent or overhaul.
The T25 turbocharger of your CSE is DIY rebuildable and the kits for these would be the least expensive option (under $130) but a complete replacement (cartridge) would be a second option at under $500.
Hope this helps and best regards,
GaryK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
