I'm going real slow on this. It looks like if I broke that rigid line from the slave to the master a lot would be involved in replacing it. This procedure looks more like plumbing than auto mechanics.
A couple of things I'm wondering about. If any one knows the answer, please throw in your two cents.
Question 1. Is it possible to loosen a compression nut like that by applying heat? If I towed it to a nearby mechanic could he put a torch in the engine compartment and loosen it by heat? Is that dangerous?
Question 2. What if I bought some longer open-ended wrenches tomorrow at Sears or Harbor Freight, both of which are nearby. Would that increased leverage loosen it?
Question 3. Should I bite the bullet and have it towed to my local Saab technician? I hate to give up and pay for a full repair just because of a stuck nut, but too much persistence might lead me to a big problem.
Any ideas, anybody.
