Noise from dashboard!

Good morning everyone.

When I started my '96 9000 this morning, there was an awful sound from the dash board, that I took to be electrical. I immediately switched the engine off, but the noise just continued even with the engine off. So, then I switched it on again, and let it heat up as it is pretty cold here this morning - was about 11F.

The noise continued, but no check engine light came on, though the oil temperature seemed to go up quicker than usual, but to its normal temperature. Still, after having the car out and driving for about half and hour or so, I took it home, switched off the engine, and the noise from the dash continued for about five or six minutes. I opened the hood but could not hear anything from there in the engine.

The noise seems to be from where the two 'switches' are that warm the seats (well they warm the passenger seat anyway).

Can anyone give me any ideas on what this could be.
