94 9000CS with 68,000 miles. Started to have a no heat situation a month ago. Found heat mixer flap was not moving. Ran diagnostics on ACC and it seemed to fix it. Just last week though it had the same problem again. This time refused to move, and showed "1" problem after running diagnostic mode on ACC. Jerry rigged the heater flap to get heat until I could look at it. The heater flap moves freely when disconnected from the wire.
A few days later the motors started working fine again.
Removed the passengers side airbag to examine the servo motors. Everything is tight. When running the temp up to HI and LO I noticed one time that the servo motor moved to the HI position very, very slowly, almost as if it was struggling to move the wire, or confused. It then worked fine the half dozen times I changed the temperature after that.
I intend to check voltages per the factory service sheets I got from the saabsite (or was it Townsend's site?).
I have checked the in dash temp sensor. The fan runs and I blew it out with compressed air to make sure it was clean. Also engine coolant temp is normal.
What could it be?
-Binding wire through the firewall? I will check tonight.
-Bad temp sensor in duct (by servo motors)?
-Bad temp sensor in dash?
-Bad servo motor for blend door?
-I have noticed that occasionally (almost rarely) the battery voltage just after starting is reported on the dash display as 10.5 volts, although the charging rate is 13 to 14 volts once the engine starts. I mention this only because I read that the ACC will shut down the servo motors if the voltage drops to 10 volts. Although I would think it would reactivate the motors once the proper voltage is reached. The battery is in fine condition and tests out at 12.6 volts without the engine running.
All ideas and previous experiences are welcome!
