No.....if your indy is smart, he'll remove the cable from the plastic arm and carefully remove the assembly together keeping the arm in tact. I was not so smart, and broke mine. Don't worry about it being brittle, and replace only if necessary. Its a fairly rugged piece unless you smash it trying to remove the blower motor assembly.
