Congratulations on your luck for never having to deal with leaks in 15 years and 155,000 miles - this is very unusual as typically the hoses develop leaks by this point.
If the A/C is still producing "normal" cold air, then it sounds like the oil should be OK - the gas leaks out first. What about the harmonic balancer, which drives the serpentine belt, which drives the A/C? When the two parts start to separate, they howl.
