Great comeback. I get a kick out of these guys who think their new Bimmer or whatever is some pinnacle of automotive achievement. They're nice, comfy, fast, safe, etc. And yeah, they are faster than my '96 9K, but I can't uses that poke in the U.S. anyway, so all that gives you is an ego boost (or substitution for something else). But in value for the buck they are a total ripoff.
I'm a tightwad and I look at it in terms of what I get for what I spend. And much as I'm a motorhead, I just won't spend a lot for a car. So I get what gives me the most overall bang for the buck and that's a nice used Saab. I plan to keep my 9K for a long time and enjoy every minute of it. Heck, it's only 12 years old and has a mere 149,500 on it. Heading for 200K, maybe even 250K. Ditto on the '95 my daughter drives.
