5 spd transmission fluid... what does yours smell like? Posted by PGAero [Email] (#1143) [Profile/Gallery] (more from PGAero) on Thu, 19 Jun 2008 08:17:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I checked the fluid (oil) in my '93 Aero 5 speed today. It was at the proper level and looked fairly clean. It looked a little grey (maybe just fine metal silt after 15 years), perhaps time for a flush on this ol' non-serviceable-transmission car.
So, my question is this: What should it smell like. It smells like transmission fluid. Do transmissions make trans fluid smell like it does, and oil would end up smelling the same after years of use, or did a previous owner put trans fluid into the tranny? What does your manual transmission lube smell like?
Let me know. Thanks,
Peter
