I'm going later this week to look at a '91 9000 n/a.
This will be my first look (outside of pics.)

It has been described as having no power brakes - some pressure but no power. Owner says it needs a new master cylinder, but owner also didn't know if it was 2.1 or 2.3 l., so, salt, grains, etc...

Here's what I know - power loss came soon after a front brake job. So, obvious first check is if the lines were bled correctly.

If not, here's what I know,
1) the '91's have a shared pump with both the brakes and ABS system (changed in '93?)
2) the accumulator sits near the cylinder,
3) there are one or two relays involved in the activation of the pump.

So, Ari gave a great writeup on 93's and later telling how to jump pins to test the relays,etc.

Anyone got ideas on how to quickly run this down and guess how much a fix will cost? (Master cyl and accumulators are > $300 each, and I can DIY it)
