There might be a relay involved that's bad and did you check your fuses?
If it's not that then it's probably one of two things: either a bad switch Or your cabin fan might be burned out (That's a pain).
As for temp. If it goes up a bit when sitting and drops once you get going it's ok. Most of us have normal temp readings at about 9:30. Fluttering wildly and unpredictably is not normal.
The idling thing - well it shouldn't do that, but I'm no help there.
