My 93 Aero has that too. I also had the timing components replaced. Did you replace the rubber strip that's mounted on bottom of the valve cover? I did that also, and yet... occasionally the motor still taps. I've heard the fuel pressure regulator could make that kind of noise as well.

If your tensioner and bs sprocket was anything like mine it was worth spending the money anyway. I just live with the noise myself... good luck.
