Thanks, Lyle. I've done some reading on here and it all recommends thorough cleaning and lubing of all moving points inside doors.
I bought the car for my mom and she's driving it most of the time while I'm on the hook to make it more perfect. I have one door's inner panel pulled now, have done the research on pulling the mirror control switch to remove driver's door but haven't gotten to it. I'll be opening all four doors some time soon and doing all I can inside them and then I'll reassess the situation.
So once doors are functioning correctly I'll consider what to do. I've never liked cars with two keys, it's a pain in the neck plus a constant reminder of how lazy someone was to replace a bad lock cylinder but not spend a little extra to get it to match.
But I could live with the situation if you never needed the second key, and the J.C. Whitney remote setup is a cheap way to gain that feature, cheaper probably than finding the proper remotes and getting them programmed to match the car.
What features would the Saab original fobs give me? 1. Arm-disarm the alarm I have no intention of ever using and don't want functioning, and 2. pop the trunk, is what I've seen from the '95 owner's manual.
I'd at least want lock/unlock the doors, and pop the trunk, and I know I'd get that from the Whitney unit.
