Hello everybody!
For better or worse I bought back my 1995 Aero 5-speed that I sold 2 years ago (missed that car ever since I sold it).
Well, back into the repair business
I’ve been experiencing a no-start but only in the morning and hope for your help and input!
Here is what I know or found so far:
•Car had a long cranking time in the morning or after extended sitting
•Fuel pump insert and check valve replaced by me in May 2006
oCan a flexible fuel injector hose inside a pump cause a problem?
•Cleaned some contacts, replaced ignition and fuel pump relay- still the same.
•Swapped DI cassette- still no start.
•After first no-start yesterday, I run a fuel pump for 10 sec by jumping fuses 14 and 22 and car started.
•This morning it didn’t help. After 15 minutes of periodic cranking I found that spark plugs had only few wet dots- looked more like oil?
•Engine sputtered after I sprayed a starter fluid, so I added more, ran a pump again for 10 sec and it started after 20 seconds or so.
•I noticed a high idle in the last few days. No vacuum leaks found, engine temperature sensor seems to show correct resistance, cleaned AIC valve as well.
This weekend I’m replacing a fuel and air filters as a cheap insurance and will do a complete No-start test per Ari’s post, but it looks like I have a problem with fuel.
New fuel check valve is on the way also- car still cranks long during a day.
Please, bring your ideas!
Thanks for your help!
