I really enjoyed reading your post. I just wanted to thank you for the time you took to accurately describe what you did and how someone could use your post to accurately follow up with simular results.
I have a question I recently took my front door panels off to inspect the latch mechanism and tweaked it to cut off lost motion so the handles on the outside would effectively open the latch.
1) I didn't lube it and have read posts where people argue what lube should be used in certain weather and climates. I live in California and it doesnt get to snow weather below 30 or above 100. What kind of lube would be good for freeing the door latches?
2) I've taken the door panel off and the latch box with the 2 pegs that stick out. (It takes 3 45-torx hex bolts to get off). Is there a way of further disassembling the actual guts of the mechanism on the inside and putting it back in?
