Adding an upgraded exhaust system after the cat will do absolutely nothing for performance gains. You really need to upgrade the exhaust system from the turbo up to the intermediate pipe or middle muffler. This includes upgrading the cat as well.
The stock exhaust on the 9K is 2.25". Going to 2.5" is good, going to 3" is best. Anything bigger does not result in any more gains than a 3", unless of course, you're building a race car.
Search this board for posts on upgrading the exhaust system and what others have done and used. I installed a complete 3" JT system and have been happy with it for 7 years, with no complaints. Definitely allowed the turbo to spool up faster and gave a few extra ponies (this is in addition to the re-mapped BSR ECU installed as well).
