Hi guys and girls,

I just bought another 9000 last night. It's a 93 9000 CSE 5 speed with 236K on the clock. I know, I'm a glutton for punishment. Worse yet, it didn't run. The car has been worked on by some mechanics of dubious qualifications by the looks of the receipts. $4000 has been plunked into this baby with almost nothing to show for it. When I looked at it they told me they thought the DI cassette was bad. I took my spare with me and determined it was OK. The car would fire but not run. The TCS light was on. The flex pipe on the exhaust was broken off, and the car is soaking wet inside. Apparently a gent got sloppy drunk and left the windows open.......all summer. The car had several inches of water on the floor in the back seat. I charged the new battery last night after getting it home and went out today and it actually fired and ran, albeit very poorly. TCS light is still on and the cruise control light is flickering while running. It's in LHM. My first thoughts after reading up in the archive is that the safety valve is bad, at a minimum. The body on the car is mint other than it got egg'd on halloween. Wheels and tires are excellent and the DI is good. I plan on spending a little time and very little money on this car. If I can't fix it with a safety valve and some elbow grease, it will be stripped and hauled off to the crusher. I also own a 97 CSE automatic so I can use the spare parts. If this goes to the crusher, I will continue to look for a nice 96-98 9000. I will post back with questions or results after I do my due diligence with the archives.
