source of oil burning & smoke rising........ Posted by JeffR [Email] (#2860) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JeffR) on Sun, 23 Nov 2008 09:34:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 1995 9000 CSE, 112K, Automatic, has an intermittent problem where there is smoke, from some kind of leak, that rises from the firewall area. I'm assuming whatever is dripping is landing on the Catalytic Converter or exhaust area near that. You can really smell it inside the car at times, and actually see the smoke rising when you open the hood. (Between the intake and firewall).
I have not been able to see an actual drop of oil coming from anywhere while investigating. (With the car running and not running.)
It doesn't smell like motor oil burning, so I'm thinking I have a leak in the power steering somewhere?? The PS hose looks a little "wet", but I can't pinpoint a leak.
Any suggestions/ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff
