I don't have schematics for the '86, so it's a bit difficult. But with the older cars, it was typically a very simple dimmer - a high (12 volts), a low (ground) and a wiper for the pot. Quite often you can simply hard wire the wiper to the 12 volts, and the lights will be on bright. Most of us keep the dimmer at full brightness anyway. A slightly fancier alternative would be to build a resistor divider and wire it up behind the dash. Again, no adjustments, but most folks don't adjust it. I'll poke around and see if I have any schematics on it somewhere.
