The car has 156,000 miles. Just about everything has been replaced!

I had the same problem again this morning. The car started up fine in the garage. Then, when I stopped for a while - about 15 minutes or so - and tried to start it up, once again the whirring noise and it would not start. A minute later it started as usual. I phoned the garage and they suggest it is something with the security system in the car, and next time I have the problem, to put it into neutral to start it - if it won't start, that is.

This is not a good situation, with the temperature about to go down into the -30s. I took it for a long drive, just in case it needs that, this morning. But, it is a brand new battery.

I don't know if this is of interest, but the voltage is 14.0.
