Car: 97 Aero Manual- 75,000 Miles

I came out to the car this morning and noticed immediately that the alarm LED was not on (previously was light all the time). Remote button didn't do anything, and when I turned the key in the driver's door it unlocked only the driver's door and in a manual fashion (if that makes sense). Put key in ignition- totally dead- no life.

I noticed I had left lights in the parking lights position (just bought it- still learning) and I have the DRL fuse in. I assumed dead battery and attempted to jump. No luck, and to make matters worse the alarm horn started going off a few tries every time I would ground the - cable. This seems to be a sign that some power is being restored and that if I continue, it might charge the battery eventually, but the rest of the power features remain inoperable, so I can't seem to disable the alarm with a turn of the key in the door.

Any way I can disable the horn so i can jump? Does it take a really long charge/jump to revive a dead battery in this car?

I want to rule our dead battery before I explore if it is an alarm mode/immobilizaton issue. I just seems too likely that it is a dead battery.
