1) no need to go with a Walbro unless you're significantly modded. My guess is no.
2) To access the top of the tank, you need to pull out the wood bottom in the rear cargo area. Lift it up to expose the spare tire, look toward the front (even reach your fingers under the hinge area) and you'll see / feel 2 torx screws which hold it in place. Remove those, and the wood base slides out, exposing a large oval cover. 1/4-turn the two allen-head keeper screws, and the top panel will come off.
3) BE CAREFUL NOT TO BREAK THE LINES OFF THE PUMP!!!!! Can't say that enough. They are fragile. Hit them with penetrating oil, twist them, move them up and down before just yanking them upward, because they WILL break if not careful.
The retainer ring on the tank will probably make you want to jump off a cliff. Grease the threads when you put it back together, so getting to the pump isn't impossible a second time.
