so, after putting in a new voltage reg in my alternator a few years ago, over the last year the voltage had started dropping again, low 13s at best, high 11s at worst...
so, i threw my low mileage rebuilt alt in that I took off my '92 when i parted it.
great, 13.9-14.3 volts on start-up, no problems. but, as it gets warmed up, voltage comes down to low to mid 13s. ok, but, if i throw the AC on LO when cold, all is good, but then as it warms up, especially at idle, voltage will start to drop down into the 11s.
even on the highway today, AC on LO, voltage would jump around between high 11s and low 13s.
why the jumping around? I have tested the voltage readout and it is fairly accurate, about .2 low on the dash edu compared to actual voltmeter.
I don't like dropping down below 12 at highway speeds with the AC on... I should be able to run AC on LO and stay around 13 volts consistently right?
I didn't even have lights or radio on.
is it a bad voltage reg? alt? something else randomly dragging down my voltage?
i don't get it, it's religiously 13.9-14.3 at start-up.
