He is talking about a 1991, and in particular a 1991 CD which can be a horse of a different color, especially if he has a turbo. The non turbo 2.3 CDs used more standard rear standard springs and shocks, the Turbo versions used Nivomats and very soft springs in the rear, I suspect that the 1991 version used the alternate Front ARB as below but can't be sure. The REAR absolutely does use a different ARB through out as shown below. Is it 18 mm or 19 mm? Be sure to really qualify your Bushing Questions...
The 1991 he has is the "old" body style too.
Front ARB:
1990-1991 8968984 OR 8962144
1992- all 8968984 regardless of model.
I believe the four door (with trunk vs hatch) was was only available as a CD (some with turbo and some without) - I have a 1989 9000CDT auto (to go along with my 1992's) in the backyard now, but it's a 2.0 with distributor and wires and all that... so I won't go there...
Rear ARB for the 1990-1991
for the 5 door (AKA hatch) CSE body style 8961765
for the 4 door (AKA CD) CSE body style 8971368
Rear ARB for the 1992-1993
for the 5 door (AKA hatch) CSE body style 4105730
for the 4 door (AKA CD) CSE body style 8961765
Rear ARB for the 1994-1996
for the 5 door (AKA hatch) CSE body style 4105730
for the 4 door (AKA CD) CSE body style 8961765
Rear ARB for the 1997-199x
for the 5 door (AKA hatch) CSE body style 4105730 with a notation CODE=C
for the 5 door (AKA hatch) CSE body style 8961765 with a notation CODE=D
you will notice that the rear ARB are different between the 4 and 5 door (hatch) models at all times, and when the 5 door got a different ARB in 1992 the 4 door changed to the previous years pn from the 5 door.
I won't even start to go on about the struts and springs at the front, there are at least three variations, and one is for the CD. The Aero struts are supposed to have a slightly thicker shaft but I didn't measure them. There is a website out there that details the differences between regular 9000s turbo 5 speeds and the Aero variant.
Real Aeros in the U.S. didn't arrive until 1993, and it was a funky year with some items from the old and some from the new. The 1994 Aero was the first year in the U.S. that it was a a complete "transformation" from the previous DI/APC oldstyle body and all the stuff in between, and that includes the Long Block / Short Block (not to be confused a "Short block" when rebuilding an engine) and electronics that were for more than just one freaking year...
The reason I'm up to my eyeballs in this... several years ago, for several nights I got blood shot eyes drilling into to EPC to see where the differences were, because I was offered the stuff I spoke of before, complete front and rear suspension from a 1996 Aero including both ARB and bushings, all springs, rear shocks and front struts, for a really good price, like less than one replacement Nivomat. I had to ensure that it was a total bolt on because I didn't have the Aeros then that I later got (who knew, right?). It is, it did, and it's pretty cool.
the 1990 and 1991 are the same story, direct bolt on for any year suspension parts to the end of the 9000 production run, with stock, and I can't see any reason that aftermarket stuff would not also work if the mount points have not been modified (why would they anyway?).
