I know a guy who runs a BMW 325 in the 24HOL race in New England. Has a lot of fun. Not sure if I want to do it, though, and it'd be a real tough sell with my wife. I'd rather put the time and energy into an extra track day or two, as I don't care much about actually racing.
From what I'm told, cross-drilled rotors, if not factory parts (like on Porsches and some Bimmers) are often not recommended for track days. Some clubs don't allow them. A suspension engineer friend who does lots of track days won't use them. I figure they're basically OK, but there's no real advantage to them, especially on the street. And I've seen several with cracks. But each to his own!
