The switches are inexpensive and a new switch and be installed in about 5 minutes. I'm not sure what you guys are talking about when it comes to breaking them... Yes, the tabs are tricky in the location, but with the right tool, they're very easy to depress. Here's my "free" tool advice on this job - use the sun roof emergency crank handle. It's rigid, has the right bends, and is right there - perfect for pressing down the top tab without breaking it. The bottom one is easy.

I've no idea why you're going through them at an alarming rate, but my wife's old 92 9000S seemed to be almost heat sensitive - the hotter it was, the more likely the switch would stick. I replaced it, and it was fine with a new one.

When I got our "new" 92 9000S, water had leaked onto the switch through a bad windsheild gasket, damaging the contacts.... My (long dead and gone) 88 9000T leaked a bit, perhaps this is an issue for you, too? I noticed your 9000 isn't getting any younger.....
