Actually, the oil pump seal on the pre-1994 2.3L engines is just like seal on the 2.0L engine. It requires removing about 10-12 bolts to get the cover off, then snaking a huge, but thin, o-ring onto the cover. I think it is actually easier to do the job when compared to wrestling with the enormous snap ring used on the later models. I had to break down and buy special snap ring pliers to remove the oil pump cover on my 9-5, because none of the pliers I had would fit.
